Parade
of Costumes (Soloist)
All entrants will parade only in
their costume
for this segment of the program.
They may choose informal or formal Tahitian attire.
Each participant must submit a single photo (with
name on back) and a short personal fact sheet
with 50 words or less. Evaluation is based on
poise, stage presence and costume. Use of natural
fabrics and accessories are
favored, along with creativity and originality.
Scoring for the parade of costumes is separate
from the Ori
segment and together they will determine the final
score.
Ori (Soloist)
Dancers will
return for the Ori (dance segment) of the
program. Each dancer will dance “free-style” to
the house drummers for approximately for 1-1 ½ minutes.
Vahine costumes: mo’re or pareau. Tane costumes:
tihere, maru or mo’re. Fresh natural
materials should be used. The panel will judge
based on
use and execution of basic skills, creativity,
confidence
and stage presence.
Groups
Groups
may choose to submit a single or multiple
entries from the following: Ote’a,
Aparima, Ahuroa, Drumming or Music. Groups
will consist of a minimum of 6 or more participants.
Scoring is
based on stage presence, creativity, costume,
execution and skill. In order for the panel
to best evaluate
your presentation, a fact sheet or short summary
should accompany your program.
The program for single entries should be ONE item from the above selection with a minimum of 5 and but not to exceed 8 minutes.
The entire presentation for multiple group entries
should be completed within 30 minutes with no pauses
or gaps in between. You may choose a minimum of two
or all, as long as it is within the maximum time
allotment of 30 minutes.
